Q: Another foodie blog? What’s this all about?
Aloi means yummy chronicles my family’s attempt to eat better - be it at home or eating out. We’ve gone into an adventure-for-life. After all, we eat at least three times a day! Food maybe needed to survive, but we don’t need to make it such a droll affair.

This blog is a family affair. Both Y (the hubby) and I cook. Y is much much better, I admit. We try to get D (the young ‘un) involved - by talking about food, her helping out in food preparation and setting the table. By the way, we are based in the Philippines.

Q: Who?
Aloi - that’s me. Y - my betterhalf (though that’s arguable). D - our 9-year-old daughter.

Q: Are you guys pros?
Nope. We are not chefs, not trained in the culinary arts, nor have we ever taken any food-related classes. We’re regular people who choose to enjoy eating (or to be snooty … dining).

All of us HAVE been eating our whole lives! We’re very qualified to talk about what goes into our bodies, don’t you think?

Q: Why not a blog on Filipino food?
While I have nothing against Filipino food (hey, sinigang remains a favorite), we have gotten to the point that our repertoire is boring. Dipping into other cuisines keeps us excited about our food.

Q: What about dieting and healthy eating?
We want to feed ourselves better. We look for quality ingredients for what we cook. Eating organic in the Philippines may be a little expensive, but it is worth the extra effort.

Q: Some of recipes seem hard. are they?
Some may seem daunting when you first read them. But we’d never try a recipe that’s too hard. And if we have failed recipes, I wouldn’t bother posting them.

Most importantly, we want to eat unpretentious, relatively easy to prepare, good tasting food! (Don’t you think that just smacks of Jamie Oliver? So be prepared to see him and his recipes in my posts too.)

Cooking for the family is the best option. You have total control over what goes into a dish as well as being able to directly address the issues of food handling and cleanliness. Then there is that special touch we always manage to bring to home food, right?

Q: How about eating out?
Mostly we eat out to try new things. But we have trimmed down our list substantially to restaurants and eateries which serve real good food. My definition maybe different from yours, so bear with my informal reviews.

Q: How do we get in touch with you (for complaints about failed recipes? and the like?)
I love getting email, so feel free to write me with your rants, violent reactions, and other niceties, if any, below. This goes directly to my email and isn’t published here.

Or you can just write it in the comments section of the posts.

Enjoy your stay!

Q: Wait, do you have any other blogs?
I think I have too many blogs! But the only other one that is relatively active is: aloi.reads

I also contribute to a lot of reading challenge blogs and have my own challenge blog Read the Nobels.

Other blogs are for friends and family only, so if you are, please send an email via the form up there!
